Champions League Draw

Just a quick update, Man United have just drawn Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarters. The winner of that match will take on either Lyon or Bordeaux. Arsenal got Barca on the other side of the bracket, while Inter ended up with CSKA Moscow. I think it's a great draw, Bayern have a very fragile defense and will need some moments of magic from Robben and Ribery if they hope to advance. The all-french matchup is an interesting one, and Henry playing against Arsenal will bring back some memories. It is all set up for a rematch in the final against Messi and his minions. Also, a special mention to Fulham for their stunning victory over Juventus this week. And to Chelsea for... oh, never mind.

Gotta like the draw.
I blog over on http://www.frontofficefans.com/, but I’ma big United fan. Bayern are certainly dangerou with Ribery and Robben attacking from the wings, plus op top they have Olic, Klose and Gomez. United should still be the favorites because of Bayern’s defensive weaknesses, which Fiorentina exposed to great effect in the last round. If Fiorentina can put up 4 goals in 2 games I wonder what a club with United’s strength can do to them.
I couldn’t have come up with a draw that I’d be happier with.

I wouldn't have minded Barca
because if we play em in the final, I really can’t see us beating them. However over to legs with home advantage in the 2nd, I would fancy us

What, you think the Bernabau is home turf for Barca?
If the final is United/Barca, we’ll be the home team.

I just think we have a much better chance of beating a team like Barca over to legs instead of just the one match where everything is at stake

Yeah I get what you mean. If there is any team I don’t want to meet in the finals it’s Barça. Another one would be Arsenal. We know one big gun will be knocked out so that’s comforting. That said, on a full strength good day I think we can beat anyone.
Probably the only Cleveland Browns fan in all of Sydney, NSW.
I agree that United can take any team on a good day. I think Arsenal match up well Barca and either team could end up winning. I’d rather face Arsenal in the final based on the recent EPL results.
All the teams are good at this stage, but I think Bayern and then a French team is certainly an easier path to the final than having to go through Barca, Arsenal, or CSK.

While not the weakest side left in the tournament, certainly, they are one of the more fragile sides.
I wouldn`t want to fly all the way to Moscow for a game against the Russians, especially with their fans, that draw once you take travel into account looks dreadful.
Barce, Arsenal is certainly the most exciting draw. The football on show would be spectacular.
I agree with Sweet Science, we probably have a better chance of beating them over 2 legs, but if we replay that final, I still think we have a fairly decent chance of beating them.
The artificial turf in Moscow certainly throws some more interest there
I really hope Inter gets bounced to help the Bundesliga take that 4th champions league place.
Who cares how bad the Bay deal will look in 2013, the world is going to end in 2012 anyway
The Utd-Munich
match will have a lot of history. Including that Bayern knocked them out in 2000-01, en route to winning it all (PKs vs Valencia, who knocked out Arsenal at the same stage that year).
This season, they have been extremely unsteady. They could be very good, with Robben, Ribery giving teams headaches. Their forwards are also capable but their D is going to have trouble containing Rooney and Co. for sure.
