United vs MLS All Stars tomorrow

KANSAS CITY MO - JULY 25: Manchester United starters line up for a team shot prior to the game against the Kansas City Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium on July 25 2010 in Kansas City Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

First of all sorry about the lack of posts in the last few days. I was away at a wedding and a combination of food, alcohol and women caused me to forget all about United. I didn't even realize they had played over the weekend until yesterday. We lost? Berba scored? Well anyway, let's not dwell on the past because there is a lot to be excited about in United land. Vidic looks to be staying on, Nani was back on the weekend and now Chicharito looks set to debut as a United player. Plus United have a chance tomorrow to thrash an entire league's best players. The MLS All Stars take on the mighty Manchester United tomorrow at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

I would love to get some predictions on what you think will happen in tomorrow's game. Actually what I would really like to hear is what you would like to see happen compared to what you think will happen.

More news and notes after the jump.........

Star-divide

Here is a pretty sweet video that a fan made to promote the up coming United season. It features the audio from a Nike Hockey commercial that aired here in Canada during the Winter Olympics. It's a sweet video.

Manchester United Season 2010 11 Promo by aditya reds (via adityareds)

Young United defender Rafael has received the call to play for his country. Rafael is one of 11 potential first timers in a new look Brazil squad named by new coach Mano Menezes. Just 4 players in the squad featured in the World Cup as the new coach looks for the next generation of Brazilian greats. Brazil plays the USA in New Jersey next month and Rafael looks set to make his debut for his country. What a thrill this must be for the youngster and it is well deserved.

Paul Scholes has admitted he may have made a mistake by not going to the World Cup. Scholesy says that once the World Cup build up got into full swing he thought maybe he should have gone and played for England. But he is also well known as a man who misses his family when on international duty and he had promised his wife's cousin he would go to Florida to coach in a soccer clinic. I don't think Scholes would have done much to help England's perfectly good goal to be given by the linesman so I am not sure how much he could have done to prevent England bowing out to the Germans.

And David Gill says United has money to spend. He always says that and yet still no striker to bolster the squad.

I reckon Hernandez is that striker to bolster the squad. And given Fergie’s absolute confidence in Berbatov I don’t think we’re getting another one.

Scholes had a clinic on? Damn. How I’d love to be 6 and fly to Florida for that.

I’d like to see Macheda and Welbeck have good games. I’d like to see 1 high-profile surprise signing. If what they say is true… Ozil is available for 10M…. I don’t know why we don’t go for it…

We can always switch between a 4-4-2 with Berbatov… or 4-5-1 (4-3-3) with Macheda/Ozil/Welbeck/Nani/Valencia all playing some roles.

True… curious how I’ve never seen him deployed that way. He won’t make a bad treq, actually, although his long range shooting, and his ability to go by defenders is a bit lacking… he is certainly quite capable of passing the ball off to players in good positions.

He'll just sulk 'n silk his way defenders

He can be our type of trequartista, though, and I envision that just being a more playmaking support striker that roams and holds the ball up to create things. He scores in every single category, and I don’t see why we can give it a shot. It’s almost as if that would seemingly transition into a 4-4-2 when we need it too, and Fergie’s been shifting to the more Euro 4-2-3-1 on occasion anyway.

Sunshine will come to Nats Park, I promise.

I’d like to see

Rafael Evans Brown Fabio

Nani Scholes Giggs Obertan

           Chicharito Berbatov

Wayne Rooney, 1/27/10: Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man

I don't see another striker coming in

Chicharito will be given his chances as will Berba and maybe in the winter transfer window one will be brought in if goals are coming off of boots not named Rooney.

Mixed feelings on Ozil mainly because I’m a Brem fan. I’m a little more interested in seeing what the keeper situation is going to look like. Sir Alex is apparently interested in “The next Schmikes” a 26 year old Dane. Personally I’d pick up Akinfeev this summer, loan him back to Moscow for the year and then bring him over next summer. He constantly brings up United when he’s talked to and is a brilliant keeper.

As for the game tonight…..to be honest I don’t see it going well for United but as long as we can get the kids some more playing time I’ll be happy. Really hoping Cleverley gets a full 90 he’s looked something special and might be the reason that Possebon was left in England. He was named Watford’s player of the year even though he missed quite a few games do to injury.

I love Akinfeev, and he’s amazing.

About the starting line up, I don’t think Berbatov starts tomorro. He’s already started the last game.

Akinfeev is going to be far too expensive

He has the skill to match the hype, and I wouldn’t be surprise if he pulled up with a Buffon-like price tag. But I also wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave on the cheap, either.

I’d like to see a loan move for Huntelaar if that’s available.

Sunshine will come to Nats Park, I promise.
