2010 Champion's League group stage draw
It's that time of year again...time to make your travel arrangements for a holiday to see United in Europe. With the group stage draw, we can begin to put together a path for United to reach European glory once again. Monaco was rough on United last year, putting them in a group that meant midweek flights to Russia and Turkey...perhaps it will be a bit kinder this year.
Who would you like to see in the Group Stage? Feel free to discuss...don't have an account yet? Click here to create an account and join the discussion!

Tottenham in pot 3 (for non english clubs) could be real trouble
Could you imagine being Lyon and getting drawn with Madrid and Spuds?
Reyes, Thole, Wright, Beltran, Bay, Davis, Martinez, Tejada...

true
Spurs and Ajax have to be the scariest teams of Pot 3.

I don't know about you guys
but I get giddy with the prospect of playing consecutive weekends at Wembley…FA Cup Final one weekend followed by the Champion’s League Final the next weekend…
Remember the last time United sought European glory at Wembley? I do:

Club Defender of the Year:
Maicon….As usual, the reigning champions are taking the individual awards…
Club Midfielder of the Year:
Wesley Sneijder…Care to guess who’s gonna with the Forward of the Year?
Just to put that into order:
GROUP A: Inter Milan
GROUP B: Lyon
GROUP C: Manchester United
GROUP D: Barcelona
GROUP E: Bayern Munich
GROUP F: Chelsea
GROUP G: AC Milan
GROUP H: Arsenal
Good news for United fans in the States, this means that they’re opposite the London teams and should have all their games live on either Fox Soccer Channel or Fox Sports Net.
Having issues posting, for some reason
Following Pot 2:
GROUP A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen
GROUP B: Lyon, Benfica
GROUP C: Manchester United, Valencia
GROUP D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos
GROUP E: Bayern Munich, AS Roma
GROUP F: Chelsea, Marseille
GROUP G: AC Milan, Real Madrid
GROUP H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk
Following Pot 3:
GROUP A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, Tottenham
GROUP B: Lyon, Benfica, Schalke 04
GROUP C: Manchester United, Valencia, Rangers
GROUP D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Copenhagen
GROUP E: Bayern Munich, AS Roma, FC Basel
GROUP F: Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow
GROUP G: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax
GROUP H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, SC Braga
After Pot 4, the group stage is set:
GROUP A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, Tottenham, FC Twente
GROUP B: Lyon, Benfica, Schalke 04, Hapoel Tel Aviv
GROUP C: Manchester United, Valencia, Rangers, Bursaspor
GROUP D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Copenhagen, Rubin Kazan
GROUP E: Bayern Munich, AS Roma, FC Basel, CFR Cluj
GROUP F: Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, Zilinia
GROUP G: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre,
GROUP H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, SC Braga, FK Partizan
Wow, can’t wait to get the TV Schedule and share some thoughts on this draw….Group C and Group G look killer….
Group A looks difficult too
Inter should have the class to win the group but a slip up here or there is on the cards.
Why do you think C is killer? Valencia are decent but the other two shouldn’t threaten much.
Barca and Arsenal seem to have the easiest groups, though Chelsea and Bayern should have little trouble with theirs.
At this point I have trouble seeing the Pot 1 teams not win their groups, except for AC Milan and maybe Lyon. Plenty of interesting races for 2nd though.

Spurs
have a tough task getting out of their group Bremen are a good team.

C is a killer group for a few reasons:
Valencia are a well prepared team and typically perform well against bigger name clubs.
Rangers are emotional for many people, including myself. Glasgow is close to Manchester and the last time Gers came to town and they left it a mess, while United were away in Moscow making John Terry cry like a little girl. The intensity of seeing SAF (who wore the Blue 41 times and scored 25 goals) manage United against his former club, who is being run by former Scotland gaffer Walter Smith.
Bursaspor are a Turkish team and even though they have the lowest UEFA coefficient of the 32 remaining teams, it’s still means a midweek trip to Turkey…which is never an easy trip, no matter which Turkish side you visit.
Ah, I see
I guess I was only looking at the pure football side of the Group C draw, rather than the whole picture. Surely we’re clear favorites to win the group though, right? Should win each game at home and probably win in Glasgow and Turkey… I wonder if the team gets as worked up about playing Rangers as the fans do – I’d guess for most of them, no they won’t, so they should be focused.
