Strike force United style
So on the evidence of Sunday's match United seem to have more fire power up front this season. Hernandez won't stop scoring, Berba has looked sharper this pre-season than he did most of last season, and Rooney was lively in the first half and set up a goal. Owen is the 4th/5th choice depending on Macheda. So do you think United have enough fire power up front this season? We were derailed last season when Rooney went down. Do you worry about that happening again? Let me know in the comments section.
For my part I think Hernandez is going to be a steal and will have a nice season of around 15 goals. Berba should be around that mark again. So I still think, unless Nani and Valencia score more, that we will need Rooney to get around 30. He certainly is capable of hitting those highs again and I think he will. I am concerned if he gets hurt that we will again struggle for goals. I don't think you can expect Chicharito to have a consistent season in terms of goal scoring in his first year in European football. He seems like he can score in bunches but I would expect a couple of longish droughts.
So my conclusion. I think we just about have enough goals if Macheda can get some more minutes and find the back of the net with some regularity.

I don’t see either Owen or Macheda as 4th. United would be more likely to go with a lone striker than pair one of those two with the three obvious candidates.
This is nothing more than my opinion but it always sounds better as a definitive statement.
I’d like to see how Rooney and Hernandez play together.

I think we'll be fine.
Rooney: 25
Berba: 15
Chicharito: 10
Kiko: 5
Owen: 5
Nani: 6
Valencia: 8
Scholesy: 4
Cleverly: 6 (Surprise of the season)
Vida: 4
Rio: 2
Brazilian Nevilles: 4
Giggsy: 3
Fletcher: 4
Park: 3
Obertan: 3
Gibson: 5
There’s my predicitions for goal scorers.

Cleverly is going to go out on loan
for the whole season, no?

Well I know he hasn't gone yet
but I was under the impression he was going to go eventually. He isn’t ready in my opinion to play for United. I think he needs another year of first team football especially if he is playing a lot in the premier league like Jack Wilshere did last season for Bolton on loan from Arsenal.

Friday quote from Sir Alex
Ferguson stated: "Tom Cleverley is going to stay. He is an exceptional young player in the sense of his ability to play in different positions.
“He is such a mobile boy who can play wide on either side and in central midfield. Also, which he has showed at Watford last year, he is a goalscorer.
“Tom has got outstanding qualities as far as goalscoring is concerned, so he is going to stay.”
Gotta disagree with you, the kid was scoring goals for fun last season, besides the fact that playing/practicing along Paul Scholes can do nothing but help improve his game.

Nothing improves a player
like playing. And I can’t see him getting that much time this season. He is still behind Valencia, Park, Nani, Giggs, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Gibson and maybe even Obertan. That isn’t much playing time for a young player who needs to be on the pitch.

I perhaps see at least a loan until January in the cards

No goals for O'Shea
Evans or Smalling? O’Shea always seems to get one or two important goals.

Subtract one from Rio, subtract two from Gibson, and you get O'Shea.
Hopefully he gets the dagger against Liverpool again.

One goal can be against Liverpool, another against City, and the last in the title-clincher.
There! I like that…

Yeah I forgot Johnny
I’ll mark him down for 2 maybe 3………Evans I donno and I’m still VERY skeptical about Smalling.

You are skeptical
about a 20 year old guy who has played roughly 25 times between Fulham and Maidstone in competitive fixtures at a position where players generally peak a little later after a few pre-season outings? I wouldn’t rush to any judgment on Smalling at this point.

15 goals for Chicharito is quite optimistic.
I hope he breaks ten but I think that we should be patient with him.

Well I did say around 15
I mean Owen got 9 last term and didn’t play that much. We create a lot of chances and if he has shown anything in pre-season Hernandez has shown he knows how to be in the right place at the right time. Oh and he can finish. If he gets the playing time I think he will get goals. This isn’t a young player coming through the reserves. He is an international and at 22 is right around the age Rooney was when him and Ronaldo became forces on the world stage. If he gets the time on the pitch he will get goals.

I guess so, the big point being that we don't have to worry about our striking options that much.
If you’re saying 15 total goals in all competitions, I would agree. 15 premiership goals I think is a stretch though, IMO. Just me…

No I was talking all comps
He will probably get a hat full in the cups. I can’t see a team from the second or third divisions coping with his pace.

I have no worries whatsoever about our forwards. I don’t think we’ll need to overwork Rooney quite like we had to last season since Chicharito and Berba should get plenty of playing time.

I don’t think we’re going to need to depend on Rooney as much this year. By season’s end Chicharito may have developed into something spectacular. I know it’s premature, but I don’t care :)
Also, the SBNation EPL Preview is absurd, if anyone hasn’t read it

(1) His demeanor is tricky. (2) He reeks of the negative type of cunning, even if his Plymouth spell was all good-ol-boy.
(3) Blackpool. (4) I happen to be a fan of Leicester. (You can do your research there).
I wish him the best, but I don’t really like him. (Hate is a strong word so I take that back.)
