I think Young is playing in the hole behind Berba

Here's what I wrote on Young after he signed for United in the summer

Talking about his versatility, including his ability to play behind a lead striker.

Benfica lineup

I’m surprised not to see Nolito starting and I’m somewhat shocked to see Cardozo on the bench. Maybe he’s got a knock or has been out of form since we last saw him.

Young and Berba up top?

Curious to see the chemistry there… especially if this is an open game like some of us are expecting.

Berba/Young/Nani...

has the potential to have some fluid interchanges.

Like you said though, we’ll see how the understanding is.

Berba up top aone...

Young will need to stay close to him. Berba has not done well as a lone striker while at United. At Villa, Young had a tendency to drift to the wide areas from an initial starting position in the center. He helped create overloads on the flanks. Look for that possibility with Valencia and Nani today

In a way, I would rather City went through

Because then it would give us the opportunity yo knock them out, and it would be interesting to see how they handle playing in europe, the two cups and the League (Im sure they will be fine because of their depth, Dammit)

Great recovery after a poor start.

Getting my applause now for the recovery. Carrick’s passing can be better.

by dingmajiao on Nov 22, 2011 8:31 PM GMT via iPhone app reply actions

Carrick?

What about the shit half from Valencia and Jones. What about Fletcher’s lack of passing range? What about Javi Garcia having Young in his pocket?

Every single player on this squad has been inconsistent at some point this season, yet people are so quick to jump on Carrick when he misplaces a pass… despite still completing 85% of his passes that half. Color me tired of the Carrick haters.

by dingmajiao on Nov 22, 2011 9:53 PM GMT up reply actions

Very frustrating game to say the least

Frustating because this happen at Old Trafford, this was a game that we need to win to say on top of the group stage and because those two goals we gave up could of been prevented. If Jones would of screw up and scored a og and if De Gea could of kicked that ball abit higher in the air, we would of had a clean sheet. I felt like pulling out my hair after this was all said and done.

BUT we did have lots of chances to put this away, espically when Berba tied it up, but the GK for Benfica Artur was out of this world, i’ll give that team that. He was out there positioning himself in the right places to make the key saves and was very acrobtic in the net.

All in all it was average preformance for United, hopefully they’ll do better when we play Basel, because there going to have to if they want to move on.
