It was a day to celebrate the greatness of manager Sir Alex Ferguson's glorious 25 years at Manchester United. It was not a day to celebrate a glorious performance performance by the Reds on the pitch. Nonetheless, United were able to grind their way to another three points in the English Premier League after their 1-0 victory over Sunderland. The lone goal in the match was not scored by any current Reds, but rather by a former one wearing a Black Cats' shirt on the day. Wes Brown -- who joined Sunderland over the past summer after being at United since 1996 -- inadvertently scored an own goal when he headed in a corner by Nani just prior to half-time. It was an uninspiring performance by United and perhaps the players were a bit distracted by the grand occasion -- Fergie wondered the same after the match as well.
