The lone goal of the match began with an incisive diagonal long-ball by Michael Carrick that found Ryan Giggs down the left flank into space. The Welshman then used a sublime first-touch to get by Jose Bosignwa and Giggs then cut it back to a trailing Wayne Rooney for a calm and cool far-post finish. The two sides will meet again next week at Old Trafford for the return leg of this UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie.
