Manchester United comfortably advanced to the UEFA Champions League final after dismantling Schalke 04 4-1 (6-1 agg) at Old Trafford. Darron Gibson played a sublime through ball in the 26th minute to Antonio Valencia and Ecuadorian effectively ended the tie when he slid the ball past Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Just five minutes later, Gibson himself netted a goal when Neuer failed to save a shot he should have kept out. The rout appeared to be on but just minutes later, Jose Jurado pulled one back for the German side after a poor pass in the back from United center-back Chris Smalling. However, the tie never appeared to be in doubt and in the second half, the home side continued to add to their tally; midfielder Anderson, who had only scored 2 goals for United in 127 previous appearances, bagged a brace in the 2nd half. United will face FC Barcelona on 28 May at Wembley in the Champions League final. Highlights are courtesy of Fox Soccer:
