We have covered Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez's concussion quite extensively so far and there really is no point in creating any sort of fear over his long-term health if not necessary. However, some quotes from Rafael Ortega, the doctor at the Mexican striker's former club Chivas de Guadalajara, claimed to reporters that the player has a history of neurological problems. It is at least worth bringing up.

Ortega: "I remember in his time as a youth player at Chivas he suffered from acute migraines. Originally it manifested as a headache but afterwards the symptoms disappeared. We had some studies done on him but that was six years ago and he has done well since. I don't know if there is a connection between the two situations. I'm not up to date with the current situation, we would have to speak to a neurologist." 

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say in response:

"I'm not aware of that. This is a straightforward concussion. He was hit on the top of the head with the ball in the early evening. When he was back at the hotel, taking his meal, he felt sick and he was sick. He had headaches, so we removed him to the hospital where he stayed in overnight. They did the MRI scans and that was all-clear. Concussion is something you don't want to happen but usually time heals that and we'll give Chicharito plenty of time. We won't be rushing him back. I'll only bring him back when the doctor tells me I can bring him back."

For the time being, it is probably best to consider this only as a concussion. With the club's quality depth at striker and the possible need for Chicharito to get some additional rest after a long period of continuous football, this scenario might not be the worst thing in the world - although it certainly is not ideal. If he does miss the opener at West Bromwich Albion, that should provide an opportunity for Dimitar Berbatov to reclaim his spot as first-choice. After West Brom, both Arsenal FC and Tottenham Hotspur await United in the early weeks of the English Premier League season.
