that lineup was suicidal

although it's changed again...
Lingaard on the bench and either Rafael or Fabio on bench… I would guess Rafa but who knows.

Now it's showing:
Lindegaard, Evra, Ferdinand, Jones, Valencia, Giggs, Carrick, Park, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov
Bench
De Gea, Anderson, Welbeck, Pogba, Chicharito, Rafael and Jesse Lingard
Anyone know who Jesse Lingard is?
The only time Iv heard of him
Is on my football manager game that I got for Xmas
Can’t even remember where he plays

They're saying midfield
I’m not too worried, I’m sure he won’t see the pitch
Yup, that was 1st update
I have the team sheet on this post.

Wonder if we'll use a back three...
Like we did in the 1st half vs Wigan. Valencia pushed up as a winger while Nani had a free role between the lines

Might be hazardous against Ameobi and an in form Ba ba ba
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 7:52 PM GMT up reply actions
3v2 though
You keep the fundamental spare, man advantage while pushing back their wingers. You can only use 3 in the back vs 2 forwards

But then they could hit us on the break
I like it. But We need to control possesion in a big way. Also, Rio has to have a big game
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 7:57 PM GMT up reply actions
I dont think they'll do it with Rio...
but thats what allowed us to have a possession advantage. We created overloads all over the pitch

Good point
Just saw his pre match interveiw. He said De Gea has made a couple of mistakes in the Blackburn game and that is why
Definatley dropped
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 7:58 PM GMT up reply actions
Interesting
Nani on the right and Park on the left
I would have switched them to give Valenica a little protection
Big chance for Newcastle Ba misses his kick
started with Carrick losing out to Tiote in the challenge
Linegaard takes a nice catch to end the danger
A bit too sharp for Rooney on the rebound
It came quickly at him though

Nani hasn't got much change out of Santon so far
Actually both full backs from Newcastle have done well
(Hopefully I have just put the kiss of death on both)
This match is so scrappy that it’s frustrating to watch. There’s no flow to the action, one way or the other.
"Can Manchester United score? They always score... Peter Schmeichel is forward... Beckham, in towards Schmeichel- it's come for Dwight Yorke. Cleared... Giggs with a shot- SHERINGHAM!"
I think a neutral would be loving it. A furious tempo to the game. And getting a little heated too.
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 8:32 PM GMT up reply actions
Cross after cross after cross. That’s the extent of our creativity right now
"Can Manchester United score? They always score... Peter Schmeichel is forward... Beckham, in towards Schmeichel- it's come for Dwight Yorke. Cleared... Giggs with a shot- SHERINGHAM!"
That would be fine if there was any kind of quality on the crosses
But no. They have been lacking
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 8:38 PM GMT up reply actions
I think Welbeck must be getting warm at half time
Rooney tends to play better when he is on the pitch
I started watching at about the 15th minute and I swear to god I had no idea Berbatov was even on the pitch until you just mentioned it
"Can Manchester United score? They always score... Peter Schmeichel is forward... Beckham, in towards Schmeichel- it's come for Dwight Yorke. Cleared... Giggs with a shot- SHERINGHAM!"
Rooney's much much more disappointing than Berba atm.

Rooney has at least linked up a couple of times and gothimself in a good position

Rooney’s touch is awful and he’s getting no help from Waldo- wait, I mean Berbatov- who I still can’t find on the pitch.
Also, we’re getting overrun in midfield. Again.
"Can Manchester United score? They always score... Peter Schmeichel is forward... Beckham, in towards Schmeichel- it's come for Dwight Yorke. Cleared... Giggs with a shot- SHERINGHAM!"
The fact were getting overrun in MF
Is worrying considering we now have Carrick and Giggs instead of Rafael & Park
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 8:56 PM GMT up reply actions
Carrick gets more love on here than he deserves, in my opinion. He’s a very good midfielder at times but whenever we play a team with considerable speed he’s absolutely hopeless. He’s a stellar passer when he has a lot of time, but when defenders press him he struggles.
"Can Manchester United score? They always score... Peter Schmeichel is forward... Beckham, in towards Schmeichel- it's come for Dwight Yorke. Cleared... Giggs with a shot- SHERINGHAM!"
He doesn't get more love from me
I appreciate him, but not to Gene or Ding’s standards
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 9:03 PM GMT up reply actions
But I also think you are being a little harsh on him
He’s not useless, but he hasn’t had a good game by all accounts
by Sweet science on Jan 4, 2012 9:03 PM GMT up reply actions
I never said he was Xavi
But he is a good player, although not great. The biggest reason I started writing about this sport was because of too much lazy analysis out there. The Carrick hate is lazy and thats why I defend him so much. I also call him out as well when deserved, its ceetainly not a blind appreciation

Any player struggles when pressed...
But team like Barca and Spain have an entire team of passers that collectively alleviate pressure. Pepe gave Xavi fits last year during of the Clasicos when he was continually closed down. Another point people fail to mention…

Looking at how tight Ameobi is on Carrick off the ball.
He just can’t really find any space for himself in this game.
by dingmajiao on Jan 4, 2012 9:14 PM GMT via iPhone app up reply actions
Not every player struggles to this extent when pressed. You hope that your midfielders can move around enough that a defender can’t simply dart towards him when he has the ball. Carrick is too much of a statue. He’s a great passer when teams allow him to be a statue, but otherwise he really can’t do much.
"Can Manchester United score? They always score... Peter Schmeichel is forward... Beckham, in towards Schmeichel- it's come for Dwight Yorke. Cleared... Giggs with a shot- SHERINGHAM!"

Look Berba has his plus points. I don’t think he works well in attack with Rooney. They have some good days. But this is certainly not one of them
I don’t care what he done on Saturday, he did not look to get involved. He didn’t look to close down, nor stretch their defence. He had to be subbed.
I suggest that when you go home you lock yourself in your room and don’t talk to anybody. Just hit the bottle then hit the pillow. Prehaps you will wake up in a better mood :)
