FA Cup Round 4 Draw: Manchester United to face Liverpool
Apparently the FA decided that Manchester United versus Manchester City was so much fun that they figured a draw in Round 4 with another huge rival would be fantastic: United will travel to Anfield face Liverpool in the next round as their reward for their defeat of City today. Luis Suarez will be suspended for the match as part of his 8-match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra. United have won the competition more than any other club (11 times) but they have not won it since 2004 -- when they defeated Millwall 3-0 at Milennium Stadium. All Round 4 ties will be played on January 28,29, and 30. Here is the full Round 4 draw:
* Liverpool vs Manchester United
* Brighton & Hove Albion or Wrexham vs Newcastle United
* Sunderland AFC vs Middlesbrough
* Dagenham & Redbridge or Millwall vs Southampton
* Hull City vs Crawley Town
* Milton Keynes Dons or Queens Park Rangers vs Chelsea FC
* West Bromwich Albion vs Norwich City
* Blackpool vs Sheffield Wednesday
* Arsenal or Leeds United vs Aston Villa
* Stevenage vs Notts County
* Watford vs Tottenham Hotspur
* Derby County vs Stoke City
* Macclesfield Town or Bolton Wanderers vs Swansea City
* Sheffield United vs Birmingham City or Wolverhampton Wanderers
* Nottingham Forest or Leiscester City vs Swindon Town

What this draw tells me
That we’ll win and so will Leeds versus Arsenal tomorrow. That way, in Round 5, we will be facing Leeds at Elland Road.

2004 FA Cup final
I recently saw a condensed 30-minute version of that final versus Millwall. Incredibly fun to relive it.
United were in a 4-2-3-1ish shape. Keane and Fletcher were the double pivots with the former providing steel and with the latter providing endless energy. Scholes was ahead of them being the genius that he is. Giggs on the left tearing Millwall apart and a 19-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo was brilliant and energetic on the right. And of course, Ruud poaching a goal and coolly converting a penalty.

Ronaldo
His work-rate was so impressive in that match. He relentlessly pressed all over the pitch.

I feel your nostalgia
Earlier this season when Young was firing on all cylinders, I happened to come across a clip on Ronaldo’s debut in 2004 vs Bolton. So impressive he was, that whatever Young did after I watched the clip never quite satisfied me anymore (coincidentally his form dipped, like 90 degrees dipped).
Liverpool at Anfield huh?
Now i’m really looking forward to this 4th round tie playing not only a historic foe, but a foe with alot of anamosity towards us due to Luis Suarez racial allegations towards Patrice Evra. Looing forward to this. Hopefully well play a complete 90 minute game instead of just 45.

Suarez won't be back for it
So hopefully that will take a little bit of the sting out of the game. Hopefully it will be civil on both sides.
It should be easy pickings for you guys. We are more impotent than a 90 year-old man looking at pictures of “Margaret Thatcher naked on a cold day.”

A blessing in disguise in my opinion
So often has been the case for us this year (and last year too), that we were ousted in League Cup and FA Cup by lesser opponents. I suspect that Sir Alex actually has soft spots for struggling teams/bottom feeders/lower league oppositions. How else can you explain our frequent defeats to the likes of the newly promoted or the relegation threatened?
In Liverpool we have a formidable tie which forces Sir Alex to field a strong lineup and it will be a game worth watching to say the least!
