Tomasz Kuszczak heads to Watford on loan untill the end of the season

Is he making a save or waving good bye?(Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images)

Championship side Watford have snapped up Tomasz Kuszczak in an emergency loan deal until the end of the season. The polish keeper moved to United from West Brom in 2006 and was an able deputy to Edwin Van Der Sar in that time. Yet with the arrival of Anders Lindegaard last winter and Spanish stopper David De Gea this summer, the Pole In Goal has slid down the pecking order and even finds himself behind Ben Amos too. His only appearance in a squad this year was against Stoke earlier this year, where he sat on the bench with Amos playing. Anders Lindegaard and David De Gea were out due to injury and illness respectively.

His last appearence in United colours came in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn at the back end of last season. A game memorable because we wrapped up title number 19 (Love saying that) to surpass Liverpool's 18 (love saying that too).

Lets be honest here. He has no future at Old Traffod anymore, and will leave in the summer when his contract runs out. It is a great piece of business by Watford, as he is a very able keeper, without being world class. At Championship level, he will do a good job for them.

Overall thoughts on his career at United? A solid keeper who I trusted toi come into the side and do a decent job. Never was going to be the clubs number one though. Good shot stopper, maybe just a little lacking in the mental capacity to succeed at a club like United though.

a decent pole

i think he is a decent enuf keeper, not a bad shot stopper but his distribution wasnt up to united standard and he was a bit flaky under pressure, came out with a couple of ill advised comments, i felt after that his future was sealed

You have to be joking

Anders is out. That leaves David De Gea and and Amos.

Imagine if we have another crisis like we did against Stoke? De Gea out as well as Anders? Who would we stick in goal if AMos was not around? Give Edwin an emergencey call?

I mean for next season (Anders will be back soon enough), if first 2 goalkeepers are healthy, I don’t see much occasions for him

and

I’ve seen Ben 2 times this season, he was really good, how is the chance he will be in olympic team number 1?

Again

What if we have a crisis like we did against Stoke? Both keepers were out and AMos played with Kuszcak on the bench?

Not sure on that one

Certainly a chance. There maybe a CHampionship keeper that gets the nod somewhere. Or even someone like Ben Foster

Not sure Fergie would be too pleased either

to be honest, it is very rare to have both keepers injured at the same time and moreover you can still take the player back from loan when you need him

Loan

Only if ou stipulate that he can be recalled in the loan. And most teams would prefer not to agree to that because that could in turn leave that team exposed in the keeper department

Lets look at Some currant squads… Arsenal: Szcesney (Forgive the spelling) Flappyanski, Almunia
Chelsea: Cech, Hilario Turnball
City: Hart, Pantimillon, S Taylor, Neilson
Spurs: Gomes, Friedel, Cudicini

See a trend?

on the contrary, I’ve seen keepers recalled from loan when needed, that teams must count with such a situation..let’s hope Ben doesn’t end the same as Kuszczak

PS. Flappyanski :DD

Had to be done :)

Yes but it is far from ideal

Also, Imagine being recalled on loan and then being thrown in at the deep end with players who you havn’t trained with for a while

To be honest, I would like to see Amos go out on loan, because that is the only way he will grow as a keeper. But we will need to sign someone as cover. A club of our magnitude needs three keepers that can come in and “do a job” at best…

A good keeper even in the EPL..

Just not United class imo.. Somewhat like a Roy Carroll..
