POST-MATCH QUOTES
Sir Alex Ferguson | MUFC manager (courtesy of Sky Sports)
(Overall thoughts on the match...) "I think it’s two dropped points because we played so well. Apart from a period of ten minutes after half-time when we got off to a terrible start and lost two goals, I thought we were the far better team. It's not easy coming back from three-nil and it was a massive effort from our players. It was a great game for the neutral watching. It was fantastic and Chelsea played a great part in it too. Although I thought we were the better team, Chelsea made it an interesting game for anyone watching the match. And I was pleased with my players."
(On Rooney's penalties...) "Wayne has been doing a lot of practice since he missed his last penalty kick [against Bolton] and I think it’s paid off. Our two penalties in the second half were justified and we could have had four penalties in the game."
(On Chicharito coming on...) "We gambled and we had to gamble. To be honest, I maybe should have played Chicharito from the start. When he came on, he just had them on toast really. He really put them under pressure with his movement and positional play. Danny Welbeck has been terrific and he’s going to be a top player. But when Chicharito came on in the second half, it was a different game."
(On de Gea's standout performance...) "Yes, he’s played his part, no question about that. I’m pleased, because we see the talent in the boy. We’re going to trust that talent. Eventually in three or four years’ time, we’re going to see all that. At the moment, yes, he’s made one or two mistakes, the introduction to English football has been different for him. It’s not what he’s used to in Spain. But today he’s shown he’s prepared to get in amongst it, he’s got in a couple of punches and he’s done a great job today."

(On leveling the match after being down 3-0...) "I thought if we could get a goal with a bit of time left there was always a chance. We were controlling the game and thankfully we got an early goal in the second half and the second one not too long after. That gave us time to chase the equaliser. Everyone knows most teams would lie down and accept defeat at 3-0. But we fought well, fought hard and even if we fought on and we got 3-1, 3-2 and lost the game then we could have come off and say we'd given our all, but we were thankful we got the point - but still a bit disappointed we didn't get three. I'm sure they (City's players) will have all been watching and they've probably gone out at 3-0, thinking the game's over, but we know they won't have liked to have seen the way we fought back and fought for each other. It shows our team spirit, how much we work for each other and once we're like that, we're very difficult to beat."
(On converting his penalties...) "I've missed the last two (penalties) before today and the manager asked me if I wanted to continue taking them. There was no doubt in my mind. I'm a confident player and I've been practicing penalties for the last two or three years now, since being the penalty taker, and there was no doubt in my mind I was going to score."

Rafa & Valencia
Both won 9 tackles each…. which is more than Chelsea’s total.

That says a lot about the guy playing the left wing for Chelsea
Think he might have been slowing down play a little too much?

Rafael was the only United defender to play well...
but Malouda was certainly poor. He was dispossessed 7 times and turned the ball over twice.

MOTM
I’ve read some people are saying it’s David De Gea, but I have Wayne Rooney. He ran the midfield for most of the game. Scholes’ introduction helped him out a lot also, great sub decision.

I share similar sentiments
Rooney was a true talisman our there. Scholes dictated play when he came on.

Rooney was officially named MOTM before the game ended
We had so many players on form that night. It’s just a shame that Evra and Ferdinand cannot defend well without Vidic around.
We have Smalling and Jones in line to challenge Ferdinand’s place. As for Evra… I actually think that Sir Alex has reserved the right back slot for the da Silva twins, so we probably need someone new there.
I heard Crystal Palace’s Clyne is quite a good full back
Clyne is also a RB
I think he might be available on a free come summer. Not sure

Rooney was key for the game, there's no question about it
I chose De Gea for MOTM because of the key saves he made in the game, including stopping Mata at the end of the game to seal a point for United. If De Gea dosen’t stop that shot, Mata gets the GWG for Chelsea.

I tell you what
How good was Torres too. Didn’t happen for himin front of goal but he was a constant threat thoughout
He seems to always have good game against us..
At Old Trafford, he did well, only to miss that open goal (ROFLOL) as well..
Rooney > Sneijder
every game I watch the less I think Wayne Rooney is a striker and more of a high attacking midfielder, much like Sneijder would likely play. luckily United has Welbeck playing well and Chicharito coming on. their midfield weakness is looking more and more invisible.
