Manchester United central-defender Michael Keane will continue to help Leicester City fight for promotion to the Premier League until the season's end.

Michael Keane, who has been on loan to Leicester City since November, and whose deal was set to expire after this week's match with Wolverhampton Wanderers, has extended his loan until the season's end. Since the beginning of 2013, the central-defender has been first-choice for Nigel Pearson's side and by all accounts, the 20-year-old has excelled. In the month of January, the East Midland's side has surged from 5th to 2nd in the Championship table. Here's what Pearson had to say about the extension:

"I'm really pleased that Michael will be staying with us until the end of the season. It's been a steep learning curve for him, but he has done exceptionally well for us.

Manchester United currently have the likes of Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones as options in central-defense. Quite obviously, that would make it tough for Keane to get regular games at his parent club. Assuming he continues to play regularly, a battle for promotion to the Premier League with the Foxes should be a positive experience for the youngster.
