Thirteen Manchester United players, spread across three different continents, were called into international duty for FIFA's February fixtures on Wednesday. All matches were friendlies with the exception of Javier Hernandez's (Chicharito) World Cup qualifier with Mexico. Here is a round-up of their involvement:
* Wayne Rooney (England): The United No.10 was sharp in England's 2-1 defeat of Brazil in a friendly at Wembley as he bagged his side's opening goal and assisted on Frank Lampard's winner. Rooney was the lone striker in his side's 4-3-3 system. He went the full 90 minutes (f*** you Roy Hodgson).
* Danny Welbeck (England): The 22-year-old started on the left-side of the attack. In general, he looked dangerous at times with his pace and movement but his touch and end-product was lacking on the night. Welbeck was substituted off in the 61st minute for James Milner.
* Tom Cleverley (England): The 23-year-old earned his 7th cap as he started in midfield alongside Steven Gerrard and Jack Wilshere. The latter received deserved praise for a standout performance but Cleverley was very solid as well. The United midfielder was energetic and recycled the ball well prior to being substituted off at half-time for Frank Lampard.
* Chris Smalling (England): The 23-year-old earned his 4th cap starting alongside Gary Cahill in central-defense. It was a mixed bag for the United defender as he solid in some moments but shaky in others. Smalling went the full 90 minutes.
* Shinji Kagawa (Japan): The 23-year-old earned his 38th cap in his side's 3-0 defeat of Latvia in Kobe, Japan. The playmaker provided two assists while being deployed in a left-sided attacking role in Japan's 4-2-3-1. Kagawa went the full 90 minutes.
* Antonio Valencia (Ecuador): The right-winger scored the opening goal in Ecuador's 3-2 defeat of Portugal in Guimaraes. He was substituted off in the 86th minute.
* Nani (Portugal): The 26-year-old started on the right-wing of Portugal's 2-3 defeat by Valencia's Ecuador side. He was substituted off in the 74th minute.
* Robin van Persie (Holland): The United No.9 started and was substituted off at half-time in Holland's 1-1 draw with Italy in Amsterdam. He did not score a goal. Don't worry, the sun is still expected to rise tomorrow.
* Jonny Evans (Northern Ireland): The 25-year-old earned his 31st cap for Northern Ireland in a 0-0 draw at Malta. The central-defender was substituted off at half-time.
* Patrice Evra (France): Patrice Evra started in France's 1-2 defeat by Germany in Paris. Of course the left-back went the full 90 minutes because there's apparently a law where he's never allowed to rest. Ever.
* Anders Lindegaard (Denmark): The United goalkeeper did not feature in Denmark's 0-3 defeat by Macedonia in Skopje.
* Angelo Henriquez (Chile): The 18-year-old -- who is currently on loan to Wigan Athletic -- did not feature in Chile's 2-1 defeat of Egypt in Madrid.
* Javier Hernandez (Mexico): The striker made his 44th appearance for El Tri but he obviously didn't score since the final scoreline was 0-0. Chicharito went the full 90 minutes in Mexico City.
