Nani's hamstring injury is not thought to be serious

Nani's hamstring injury was the beginning of a frustrating afternoon against Chelsea.

For the most part, the first-half against Chelsea was going very smoothly. Early goals from Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) and Wayne Rooney were somewhat soothing remedies for the Real Madrid heartbreak from last week. In the 45th minute, though, Manchester United winger Nani was substituted off due to a hamstring injury and that was probably the beginning of a frustrating afternoon. In the second-half, the Blues dominated and the Reds were fortunate to capture a draw and as a result, a FA Cup quarter-final replay at Stamford Bridge awaits us. Thank you David de Gea.

Here's what United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had to say about Nani's injury after the match:

"Nani got a little hamstring injury. I don't think it's too serious but nonetheless he had to come off."

Quite obviously, that isn't the most revealing update but the club will likely know more in the upcoming days as they examine the injury. I suppose the good news is that Ferguson didn't appear to be overly concerned about Nani's hamstring.

The winger has been in solid form as of late and he again had some bright moments in the Chelsea game. That was badly needed after he was wrongly sent off in the recent tie with Real. Hopefully the injury isn't too serious as the Portuguese is arguably United's only in-form winger at the moment. He was beginning to establish some confidence as well:

"This is my time and I think I can be important for the team in these big games. I feel I’m in good form and I’ve nearly arrived at my peak. I think over the next few games I can surprise a few people."

United next host Reading on Saturday for a Premier League fixture before an upcoming international break. The next update on Nani is likely to come on Friday during Ferguson's weekly press conference.
